How the best cybersecurity consultants protect your organisation

At Evalian, we provide trusted cybersecurity consultancy services to help organisations reduce risk, meet compliance obligations, and respond effectively to cyber threats. Whether you’re looking to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, strengthen your security posture, or gain proactive monitoring through a managed SOC, our consultants tailor solutions to your business needs.

In this video, Matt Gerry, Head of our Security Practice, explains how a cybersecurity partner can support you in three key areas: reducing risk, demonstrating compliance, and improving incident detection and response.

Watch the video to learn how Evalian works with clients across different industries to build long-term security strategies that balance protection with practicality.

Video: How a cybersecurity partner strengthens your security

Matt:

“If you don’t know where to start with security, it’s a good place to be because you’re already thinking about it. First things first is, what’s important to you as a business? So understanding what you have, what’s important to you.

Then, how is it threatened? Then understanding, okay, so what am I doing to mitigate those threats?

Our customers come with a range of security problems and challenges, and they all tend to fall into three different categories. You’ll have customers or clients who want to reduce their risk. They know they’re exposed, they know that they’ve got control gaps, so they don’t necessarily know what to do, what to address first, what’s prioritised.

You then have the second pot of customers who have fallen under a compliance requirement, a regulatory requirement, and are under pressure to evidence that they’re doing security well. And then finally, you have the customers who want to be able to detect and respond to security incidents effectively within their environment.

I mean, they don’t necessarily have the internal resources or maybe the capability to do that effectively or proactively within those three buckets. So we’ve built our services to address those problems, and we’ve built them over time, around the clients that we’ve worked with. We tend to work with a number of clients for quite a long time.

I’ve got clients that I still work with now, going on four years. And the lessons we learn working with these organisations always feed back into the services. And we’re always looking for how we can help, again, within the very broad sphere of cybersecurity from a “reducing risk” perspective.

We’ve got a couple of key services. We’re a Cyber and Cyber Essentials Plus certification body. So we help organisations prepare for and go through the Cyber Essentials certification, which is an NCSC-accredited UK standard around ensuring that you have foundational security controls in place so you get the basics right.

On top of that, we have a number of cybersecurity assessment services where we help organisations understand and benchmark their security posture, and then provide practical recommendations to get to whatever target state they need to get to. It’s about making sure that enough is being done in the most cost-effective way possible.

And then finally, from getting hands-on and really looking for threats within their environment, we have our managed security operations service. We have a number of other services. We help organisations establish their instant response program, and then we also help them test that incident response plan.

We will develop tabletop exercises or tailored, like what we call them, live play, but you might call them simulations. The incident response team for a company will gather in a room, and we will run them through a tailored simulation across a simulated number of days, and that gets a lot of engagement.

It’s quite a fun process or job to run with our customers. We help organisations manage their supply chain or the cybersecurity supply chain risk, and that could be an end-to-end service where we help them establish the process, identify who their critical suppliers are, or risk assess those suppliers, and then help them build a remediation plan around that.”

 Cybersecurity consultancy

Our cybersecurity consultancy services give your organisation a clear picture of where you stand today and how to strengthen your security for the future.

We work with IT leaders, compliance teams, and boards to assess risks, identify gaps, and develop a practical roadmap that balances security with business priorities.

Whether you need one-off guidance or ongoing advisory support, our consultants bring deep technical expertise and real-world experience to help you make informed decisions.

Cyber Essentials & Cyber Essentials Plus certification

As an NCSC-accredited certification body, we guide organisations through Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments from start to finish.

Certification demonstrates that you have essential controls in place to defend against common cyber threats.

Our team makes the process straightforward by preparing you for audit, explaining requirements in plain English, and supporting remediation so you achieve certification with confidence.

 Cybersecurity assessments

Our assessment services benchmark your current security posture against recognised frameworks and best practices. From gap analyses to technical reviews, we identify vulnerabilities and provide prioritised recommendations that help you build a stronger, more resilient environment.

We don’t just deliver reports, we translate findings into actionable steps tailored to your organisation’s goals and resources.

Managed security operations (SOC as a Service)

With our managed security operations centre (SOC as a Service), you gain 24/7 monitoring, detection, and response without the cost of building an in-house team.

Powered by leading technology and managed by experienced analysts, our SOC provides proactive threat hunting, incident response, and continuous visibility into your environment. This allows you to focus on running your business while we protect it from evolving cyber threats.

 Incident response planning & testing

An effective incident response plan is critical to limiting the impact of a cyberattack.

We help organisations design, implement, and test their response procedures so teams are ready to act when it matters most.

Through tabletop exercises and live simulations, we train your staff in a realistic but controlled setting, ensuring your response capability is both practical and proven.

 Supply chain cyber risk management

Cybersecurity isn’t limited to your own systems. Third parties and suppliers can also introduce risk. Our supply chain cyber risk management service helps you identify critical vendors, assess their security posture, and build remediation plans where needed.

We offer end-to-end support, from creating supplier risk frameworks to carrying out assessments and follow-up reviews, giving you confidence in your extended business network.
